High-end Low-brow television

At first I didn't get FX's spy cartoon ARCHER. I still don't get it, but now I at least appreciate the zany filth ridden ride that it is. How filthy is it? Dead hookers, choking fantasies, covert masturbation and penises touching filthy.
ARCHER is the brainchild of Adam Reed, who is a responsible for numerous series on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. Apparently with FX he's found a partner that has no qualms about airing a cartoon version of ALWAYS SUNNY where Dennis is basically the star. That's a simplification, and kind of insulting to ALWAYS SUNNY's repeated usage of deep themes, but the inane banter and moral bankruptcy is readily apparent on both shows.
Our hero is the title character, voiced brilliantly by H. Jon Benjamin (The "H" stands for WHO THE HELL IS THIS GUY????). His cocky bravado resonates perfectly for the shallowest of a series of kiddie pool deep characters. He is hung up on his mother, his ex-girlfriend, tormenting his butler and sleeping with (and sometimes killing) prostitutes.
My appreciation for this show exists on three levels. The first and most abundant is the dirty retorts, filthy suggestions and vile musings that are constantly emanating from every character. They act like me if I was more worldly and a worse person.
My second favorite part is the inevitable plot twists, or more accurately put, twists. The show plays fast and loose with any sense of reality, which makes it possible to let characters do anything. All of this makes for an unpredictable endeavor, and not just each week, but minute to minute.
My third reason for watching is the voice acting, which is great. It's not that they're doing odd voices or anything like that, but that they're well acted.
Some people might feel like they're wasting their time with this show because it's not very smart and it isn't filled with a ton of laugh out loud moments. Mostly i find myself just chuckling throughout as i enjoy the ridiculous ride.
So if you've got time for Archer, give it a try. I'd suggest starting with the one on the boat or the one on the blimp. They're particularly good.
