The Future of NBC

So Jay Leno is being pulled from his time slot at ten and appears to be taking over for half an hour after the news. The change will probably push Conan back half an hour and puts the show directly against Jimmy Kimmel Live.
This new dynamic creates a glaring hole in NBC's lineup every night at ten. Luckily for them, I have a solution!
Obviously they can't green light new programing fast enough to fill the void, but my proposed setup will incorporate two new shows NBC was already planning on debuting. One is a reality program called the Marriage Ref and the other one is an hour dramedy called Parenthood. The lineup i created incorporates these shows and some other properties NBC owns. It all starts after the Olympics. Here we go...
MONDAY
8:CHUCK; 9:Heroes; 10:Caprica
The first two shows are in their normal time slots, but CAPRICA might seem new to you. It is a show that will be debuting on SYFY in January, but would fit right in with this lineup. They all appeal to the same demographic. Caprica would do better in this time slot than Leno, since it would probably hold the audience of Heroes better than Jay did. And if NBC thought Leno was cheap, they'll find that reruns are even cheaper, which is nice.
This set of shows would help cement NBC's niche as the geek channel. This is a very appealing audience to networks, as geeks are usually part of the 18-49 demographic. That means money.

TUESDAY
8: The Biggest Loser; 9: Royal Pains; 10: Trauma

I would like to move The Biggest Loser to Friday, where reality tv belongs but I think it is too good of a lead to waste. So I won't waste it, and i'll use it to attract viewers to Royal Pains. Pains is a dramedy on USA about a doctor in the Hamptons. The show has broad appeal and I think they could rerun episodes from season 1 that would retain viewers from THe Biggest Loser. Also, it would be a good way to generate buzz for the second season or possibly introduce it as a regular show in the fall.
As for Trauma, there are 6 episodes already filmed and NBC can run them before it finally gets the ax. No reason to waste the episodes. THere's also a bit of a health theme that Trauma could continue.

Wednesday
8: Mercy; 9: Law & Order: SVU; 10: Friday Night Lights
I've never seen MERCY and only know that it's about a strong female nurse who takes the world head on. Excuse me while i go vomit from that gag worthy description. Keeping with that theme, we'll follow MERCY with Mariska Hartigay. NBC already tried to promote this idea that Wednesday is all about female empowerment, so we'll run with that plan. SVU probably should be at 10 because of its content, but I don't really care and FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS is also very adult.
Speaking of LIGHTS, this show is supposed to be back on Fridays. I reject the idea that LIGHTS should air on Friday, when it is essentially lost to nowhere. This is supposedly the best drama NBC has (never actually seen it), so it deserves a chance to garner a real audience.

Thursday
8: Community/Parks and Recreations; 9:The Office/30 Rock; 10: Parenthood
Thursday is comedy night in my vision. The first two hours remain the same, and instead of inserting some drama in this traditionally dramatic slot i'm keeping the comedy theme alive.
Parenthood is a new show from Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, starring Gilmore Girls alum Lauren Graham. Their best bet for success is utilizing the strength of its lead, which should be maximized by the power of Graham.

Friday (THROWAWAY DAY)
8: Marriage Ref; 9: Law & Order; 10:Dateline
I don't know anything about Marriage Ref except that it's a reality show, which means it should be on Friday. Why? Because reality tv usually sucks, and prime real estate shouldn't we wasted on the sucky (I think Moses said that).
As for the other two shows, well, like i said, Friday is for tv that sucks.

What about Saturday and Sunday? Well there is no original content on these days anymore.

Heroes: Let the good times roll, again... Nope

I'd say that HEROES, which I know watch in about 6 minutes, has gotten worse, but that's not possible. In fact, I'd say it's more likely to turn a corner and become unintentionally funny as it continues to take itself seriously and continues to be garbage.
Anyway, Hero had gone back in time to save Charlie (Jayma Mays), the brief love of his life. She had been murdered by Sylar in season one, and for some stupid reason Hero finally deemed it time to go back and right that sad note.
I've already wasted more time talking about HEROES than I played to, so i'm going to abruptly wrap this up...
1. Just by bringing the viewer back to season one will not rekindle the magic of season one.
2. It is a crime the way Jayma Mays was wasted on this show. She is one of my favorite actresses, most likely because i have a crush on her.
3. What a throwaway storyline with Noah Bennet. Just a waste.
4. WHY DO I KEEP WASTING MY TIME WITH THIS SHOW!!!
5. Nathan is officially gone from HEROES. One of the most interesting characters is gone. The only encouraging thing is that more actors might be going and it can become the Noah and Sylar show, except...
6....THEY'RE bring Surresh back!! GOD NO! He's awful. The show is awful. Ughh.

They're really Villains

I can't think of a reason why I'm still watching Heroes. The show is not entertaining and I don't have a vested interest in any of the characters.
Sylar is mildly amusing, but ultimately wasted. Claire is hot, but everything about her is unrealistic and built to kill time. Noah used to be an interesting character until his ex-wife took his balls.
I give up. Already i fast forwarded through most of the recent episode. I danced around Claire's scenes hoping she would make a move on her soon to be girlfriend.
OH! But the dumbest thing in the recent episode was Parkman thinking he could drink away Sylar. Matt has never outsmarted anyone, and while i didn't anticipate Sylar taking over the body for good, I knew it wouldn't work out well for Matt.
It's time we wrap this waste of space up.

Not quite Heroic.

My loyalty to NBC's "Heroes" is running thin at this point. I think we're now at season 4, volume 12 or something like that, and the show is nothing like the riveting television that characterized its first season. If ever a show was designed without a long term plan, this was that show and its becoming more obvious with each passing episode.
The two-part season premiere wasn't all bad. I enjoyed Suresh's absence, Noah's large role and the Sylar/Nathan identity crisis. I would add Parkman's internal dilemma to that list, but he does too much whining for my tastes.
For my money Noah is the star of the show with Sylar. They're polar opposites, with each possessing just a taste of the other's compassion/cruelty. Now Noah is dealing with the ramifications of his career on his life and the fact that his career has become his life, as exemplified by the fact he has to call a work associate/enemy when he's in the hospital. Depressing, but addictive.
As for Nathan's identity crisis, the stage has been set for a big explosion. No idea how the writers will reconcile the fact that (spoiler alert) Nathan is dead and Sylar has had his memory erased and thinks he is Sylar. Where do you go with that????? So excited!
This excitement did not stretch throughout the 90 minute premiere, which had its definite lows. Hiro is off on another mission, which somehow has the potential to be more annoying than his quests in any other season. Parkman is still an insecure girl. Claire is still an annoying girl. Peter needs to stop being a girl. And what's the deal with the changing tattoos on her back girl????
The premiere included the introduction of new villains(?). At the very least they're misunderstood, but I'm willing to bet they'll be the impetus for the action this season.
Not sure whether I'll keep watching the show or not. "Heroes" is in dangerous territory, similar to Scrubs after Season 6. "Scrubs" had been my favorite show, but after a lackluster season 5 and a terrible season 6 I walked away from the show. Haven't been able to cut the cord with Heroes yet, but I won't stick around for anything less than heroic.
